If you would like to become a Friend you can join the 50/50 Club – it costs £6 per unit per annum and each unit entitles you to two draw entries per year one at our Spring Draw and one at the Autumn Draw.  Any number of additional units can be purchased.  Gift aid can be applied to the half of the unit cost that becomes a donation.

Normal donations and legacies to the Friends of St. Nicholas are also most welcome and they too can be gift aided (subject to the normal rules). Please contact Mike Anthony, the treasurer if you would like to join the 50/50 Club or make a donation.

For other enquiries please contact the Chairman, Philip Anderson.

The principal fund raising activity is the 50/50 Club.  The name comes from the fact that half of the money raised by the 50/50 Club is donated to the Friends and the other half is returned to lucky members whose numbers are selected at one of the two “Draws” held each year.  In the 34 years since the 50/50 Club was formed The Friends have been able to donate £80,000 to St Nicholas Church.  Among the larger projects funded in recent years were the renewal of the church heating system (£7,000), the complete rewiring of the church (7,000), the repair of the lychgate roof (£5,000) and a new signboard £1,000).  In addition there have been regular payments towards the cost of heating and insurance and general maintenance items.  Recently the Friends have paid for the survey of the spire roof (£600) and will was very much involved with raising the funds needed to re-shingle the spire.
